Our Founder’s Background: A retired Air Force Civil Engineering Officer, Mr. Robert Henkel brings 33+ years of construction and managerial experience as the founder of R2 Solutions. His Air Force experience includes: being a three-time Base Civil Engineer (Director of CE) and a RED HORSE Chief of Ops as well as Vice Commander (RED HORSE is the heavy deployable construction capability of the Air Force, equivalent to the Navy SEABEEs). In his last two Air Force assignments he served as the Civil Engineering Squadron Commander at Holloman AFB, NM before coming to Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence (AFCEE) as the Director of the Base Realignment and Closure Division (BRAC). During the first three years after his retirement, he worked as the Senior Manager/ Deputy Program Manager for Environmental firms. He then became the Program Manager for an AFCEE GEITA contract. Following that he formed his own consulting/construction management firm Quality 3DC Solutions, Inc. which he still operates today.








About the Inventor: Still serving as a Reserve Lt Col in the Royal Australian Army Robert Patterson is also an Environmental Consultant who has specialized in remote area/disrupted states sustainable sanitation. His Australian Army Reserve experience includes commanding Medical (10th Field Ambulance) and Logistics (2nd Force Support Battalion) units and operational deployments to Bougainville and East Timor. He has held a number of senior Environmental Health appointments in Australian State and Local Council authorities. He is a lecturer, Environmental Health, School of Human Science at the University of Tasmania.
Following the natural disaster in Uganda, he designed and supervised wastewater systems in the Makonge District (Uganda) to control a cholera pandemic that had claimed 127 lives. And again the 2004 Tsunami that hit the island of Aceh in Indonesia, he provided training and technical support to OXFAM UK to install 90 three hundred person BIPU (FSDS) systems to provide safe on-site sanitation for up to 27,000 Internally Displaced Persons living in temporary camps.
